Understanding Imposter Syndrome through a different lens
“I am not good enough.”
At least once in our lives, this thought bubbles up for us, whether you’re a fresh grad joining your first workplace, an experienced team lead managing a new team, or the parent of a newborn child. This phenomenon of constant self-doubt over your abilities is known as Imposter Syndrome (IS). It’s a familiar experience, but how much do we really know about it?
Our Studio Dojo team has been interested in this phenomenon and carried out a study to understand IS better. We are intrigued by the seeming incongruence between the fact that IS is an experience faced by many, and yet solutions often focus on the individuals to take actions. We continue to explore the question: What are other ways we can look at it, instead of thinking we are the problem to be fixed?
Join us for Let’s Talk About Imposter Syndrome, a free community event on 18 April 2024 (Thu). Using interactive activities, you will share and learn more about diverse experiences of IS from others in the room, hear our team’s sharing of findings from our study, and collectively explore larger contextual, socio-cultural factors that may have contributed to our IS experiences.
Dinner will be provided.
Design Dough was created with the intention to bring designers and changemakers closer, to grow and support each other within the community. There is an intriguing quality to doughs, constantly being kneaded and left to rise, in the process of evolving into something with unlimited possibilities. Hence, the name Design Dough was born.
